How to make the book

Type who the book is for and who it is from; both names appear on every coupon. Keep the suggested coupons, change their wording, or start from a blank one. Each coupon has a big title and a line of small print for the details that make it personal: which film, which Saturday, how many pancakes. “Surprise me” adds four ideas you have not used yet.

The cover is an extra coupon with the title, for the front of the stack. Coupons are numbered “No. 3 of 12” so nothing goes missing, and a valid-until date is printed on each one if you set it.

Choose how many fit on a page: four makes big, easy-to-read coupons; ten makes a pocket-sized stack. Pick A4 or US Letter to match your paper, and Ink saver if your printer is low on colour. Print, cut along the dashed lines, then staple the stack along the left edge or punch a hole in the corner and tie it with ribbon. Thick paper or card makes the coupons feel like a proper present.

Questions

What paper should I print on?

Any printer paper works; thin card (around 160 to 200 gsm) feels sturdier and survives a pocket. Check your printer's manual for the heaviest paper it accepts.

Is anything I type stored?

Your book is saved in this browser's local storage so you can come back to it on this device. Nothing is uploaded.

Can I make coupons for a child?

Yes. The For kids ideas are written for them, and four per page gives big coupons that are easy for small hands to hold and hand back.
